The evil motives of prosecutors:

Defense attorneys are justifiably angry about the evil tactics of prospectors.  One of the favorite tactics of District Attorneys, Attorneys General and Special Prosecutors is to arrest a person for a minor crime, and then to encourage them to exaggerate or lie about the behavior of the real target of their investigation.  This tactic, called “flipping,” is a common tactic for prosecutors.  The message given to small fry subjects is simple; “Help me convict your boss, and we will consider dropping charges against you.”  That is how prosecutors enhance their reputations and careers.  The current investigations in national politics are obvious examples of this tactics. If you cannot see the evil in this tactic, you have a hole in your soul.

However the larger extent of this evil practice was more fully explained by Ayn Rand in her classic novel “Atlas Shrugged.”

“Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against...         The prosecutor's, by obligation, is a special mind, coiled snake quick, bullying, devious, unrelenting, forever baited to ensnare. It is devoted to misleading, and by instinct dotes on confusion and flourishes on weakness.  Its search is for ordinary blemishes it can present as festering boils; its obligation is to raise doubts or sour with suspicion. It asks questions not to learn the truth but to convict, and can read guilt into the most innocent of answers. Its hope, its aim, its triumph, is to addle a witness by tricking, exhausting, or irritating him into a verbal indiscretion which sounds like a damaging admission. To natural lapses of memory it gives the appearance either of stratagems for hiding misdeeds, or worse still, of lies dark and deliberate.  Feigned and wheedling politeness, sarcasm that scalds, intimidation, surprise and besmirchment by innuendo, association or suggestion, at the same time that any intention to besmirch is denied. . . all these as methods and devices are such staples in the prosecutor's repertoire that his depraved mind returns to them again and again as a dog returns to his vomit.  Eventually, by imperceptible degrees, he loses all decency and renders himself unfit for any human community, his professional skills having robbed him of his soul.

The Oakland A’s Bruce Maxwell, the only MLB player to protest the national anthem, was arrested Saturday night on gun charges.

Maxwell allegedly pointed a gun at a female food delivery person.

According to Fox News, the incident reportedly occurred in Scottsdale, Arizona, where police responded to reports of “a person with a gun.” Upon arriving they arrested Maxwell and charged him with “aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct.”

TMZ reports Maxwell was arrested at 6:08 pm and was being kept in custody until he could appear before a judge.

Maxwell previously claimed he was denied service at an Alabama restaurant because of his national anthem protest. He claimed a waiter at the restaurant said, “You’re the guy who took the knee? I voted for Trump and I stand for everything he stands for.”

The waiter at the restaurant said Maxwell was “lying.” He said he did not even know who Bruce Maxwell was or that Maxwell played baseball.

Sanctimonious Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski said on Friday morning that her and Joe Scarborough’s “hearts break for” disgraced former panelist Mark Halperin after at least a dozen women accused Halperin in the last two days of sexual harassment or assault.

“I’ll speak for both Joe and myself here—our hearts break for Mark and his family, because he is our friend. But we fully support NBC’s decision here,” she said, referring to the network’s decision to get rid of Halperin. “We want to know more about these disturbing allegations. We want to hear the stories. We need to know what happened. And we are not going to avoid the story just because he’s our friend. We’re going to cover it, and we’re going to pray for everybody involved.”

After CNN spoke to five women who accused Halperin of sexually assaulting or harassing them while he was the political director at ABC News, three others made similar accusations against Halperin on Thursday. The Washington Post spoke to nine women who accused Halperin of sexually harassing or assaulting them.

Referencing “more disturbing reports regarding Mark Halperin’s treatment of younger female co-workers” that have come to light “over the the past 24 hours,” Brzezinski said there may be a “possible pattern of unacceptable conduct.”

“Mark and Karen have been part of Morning Joe’s extended family for years. They’re our friends. And we believe it’s important to stand with our friends, through even the most difficult of times,” she said. “But it’s even more important to demand the truth even when the facts appear to be extremely painful.”

Though she said she has “spoken to and heard from some of these women” and claimed that she feels “their pain” and understands “the difficult position they were in” because she has “been through enough in this business to know what” she hears, Brzezinski insisted that “nothing has been proven or adjudicated here.”

Halperin has been accused of, among other things, “placing his erect penis” against women without their consent, making subordinates sit on his lap while he had an erection, lunging at women, aggressively propositioning women, trying to kiss women without their consent, and grabbing a woman’s breasts without her consent.

Halperin’s alleged heinous behavior was reportedly an open secret throughout the industry, leading to questions about whether the Morning Joe co-hosts palled around with him even though they knew about his predatory behavior. Left-wing anchor Keith Olbermann suggested that it is laughable that Scarborough did not know about Halperin’s “Sleazebag” reputation.

Scarborough has not commented about Halperin, allowing Brzezinski to speak on his behalf.

The Daily Beast reported on Thursday that “numerous sources at NBC, MSNBC, ABC, and Bloomberg” said that the “private allegations of Halperin’s sexual misconduct were an open secret, particularly in New York City and D.C. political media, for many years.”

Vox reporter Liz Plank said on Thursday that Halperin “was the Harvey Weinstein of media.”

“I’m receiving texts today from women in media who are older, younger, new to media. And a very sort-of-junior reporter told me that one of the first things she was told when she started working on the campaign trail was she was warned about Mark Halperin,” Plank said during a CNN appearance. “So, in a way, he was the Harvey Weinstein of media.”
