Census Bureau severs ties with ACORN

Census Bureau severs ties with ACORN
Thomas Lifson

In the wake of a second videotape surfacing of ACORN employees counseling a pimp and prostate on establishing their business and evading taxes, the Census Bureau has severed ties with ACORN. Fox News reports:

The Census Director has sent a letter to the National Headquarters of ACORN notifying the group that the Census Bureau is severing all ties with the community organizing group for all work having to do with the 2010 census. ACORN had previously been tapped to help with low level data gathering. A copy of the Director's letter has been sent to Congress and relevant committees, as well as ACORN.

James O'Keefe, Hannah Giles, and Andrew Breitbart deserve kudos for doing the work that the mainstream outlets refuse to in running this video sting operation. They join Glenn Beck on the honor roll of new journalists exposing left wing corruption.

Calls for further investigation of ACORN are rising in the wake of this dramatic illustration of ACORN's essence.

Rep. Charles Boustany, R-La., called for a hearing to investigate ACORN's tax filing assistance programs following the release of the videos he said suggested multiple incidents of tax fraud.

"In light of the apparent flagrant and willful attempts to suborn tax fraud, I ... (am seeking) a hearing of the Oversight Subcommittee of the House Ways and Means Committee as soon as practicable to investigate ACORN's activities," he said Friday

We must still be vigilant about the plans for the census, but this action gives hope that we may have a legitimate count.

  1. Now it's time to demand an audit of the tax returns prepared by ACORN preparers working under the IRS' VITA program. And while we're at it, if ACORN's getting tax money to help with tax preparation, it must be cut off:
