Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 19% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president. Forty-four percent (44%) Strongly Disapprove, giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -25 (see trends).
That is just a single point above the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this president. The 19% Strong Approval matches the lowest yet ret recorded. The president now trails a Generic Republican  by eight points. Tomorrow, Rasmussen Reports will release new results for match-ups between President Obama and individual Republican candidates.
Only 6% say Congress is doing a good or an excellent job while 66% rate the performance of the legislators as poor.
The Rasmussen Employment Index has fallen to the lowest level in a year. Just 17% of workers now report their firms are hiring while 24% see more layoffs coming from their employer.
The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates are also available on Twitter and Facebook.
Overall, 42% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the president's performance. Fifty-seven percent (57%) at least somewhat disapprove.
