Former Disney CEO: Women Who Are Both Funny and Beautiful ‘Impossible to Find’ in Hollywood

Former Disney CEO: Women Who Are Both Funny and Beautiful ‘Impossible to Find’ in Hollywood

Former Disney CEO Michael Eisner says women who are both funny and beautiful are almost nonexistent in Hollywood.

Eisner, who held the position as CEO at Disney from 1984 to 2005, addressed an audience Thursday at the Aspen Ideas Festival, where he engaged in an onstage conversation with Goldie Hawn, proposing a theory on what he believes sets her apart from other women in the industry.

“From my position, the hardest artist to find is a beautiful, funny woman,” he said, via The Hollywood Reporter. “By far. They usually–boy am I going to get in trouble, I know this goes online–but usually, unbelievably beautiful women, you being an exception, are not funny.”

Hawn then credited her sense of humor to being somewhat of an “ugly duckling” growing up.

“You didn’t think you were beautiful,” Eisner continued. “I know women who have been told they’re beautiful, they win Miss Arkansas, they don’t ever have to get attention other than with their looks. So they don’t tell a joke,” Eisner continued, before adding, “In the history of the motion-picture business, the number of beautiful, really beautiful women–a Lucille Ball–that are funny, is impossible to find.”
