YOU HAVE THE POWER

YOU HAVE THE POWER
TO EFFECT GOOD AND EVIL IN THE WORLD

The fundamental principle of good versus evil was developed by the human race before there was a historical record of such thinking. Ancient mythologies put forward an idea that there was an evil chaos monster who consumed order as its nourishment; and there was also a benevolent force that created order. The existence of the entire cosmos is dependent upon the triumph of the god which creates more order than the chaos monster can eat. This cosmic struggle between order and chaos, or good and evil, is part of the awareness of every culture on planet Earth. So far, the benevolent god seems to be winning; otherwise everything that exists, including us humans, would disappear. Are you helping to create order, or are you contributing to chaos? This article is about how to be part of the solution, rather than contributing to the problem.

First, let’s take a look at the history of good and evil. One good example is the thinking of the founders of the religion called Zoroastrianism, which can trace its roots back 4,000 years, but did not show up in historical records until about 2,500 years ago. So like most religions, it predates any written record of its founding.
Zoroastrianism equated evil with matter, and good with spirit, and was therefore particularly suitable as a doctrinal basis for many forms of mysticism. Its guiding premise teaches that, through the enlightened consciousness of human beings, the good spirit - truth, order and justice -  must triumph over the evil matter - the chaos of deceit.
Another profound implication provided by ancient religion is the theology of the Zadok priesthood. The Zadok priests ruled an ancient city in the Middle East called Salem, which, upon the rise of Judaism, became known as the city Jeru-salem. This religious thinking also included a chaos monster named Rahab, the “dragon of chaos” who was doing battle with the benevolent god of truth and order, called Yahweh. The Hebrew word Yahweh is a verb, not a noun, meaning “existence as activity,” or “the event of being.” They did not see God as a divine being, but rather a divine activity, always occurring in the razor-thin moment of now. God is “what’s happening!” So what we can conclude from this thinking is that a divine event rules the universe, and is omnipresent, while restraining chaos. Without the divine force of order always being on guard, chaos would indeed take over, and we would all be destroyed.  See more about the history of the Zadok priesthood.
Even ordinary reality will conclusively prove that if order is not constantly being applied, chaos indeed triumphs. If we do not properly maintain our automobile, it will cease to function. If we do not tend to our garden, weeds will prevail. If husbands and wives do not nurture each other, divorce can happen which destroys the family. As Nobel Prize winning philosopher Bertrand Russell said when asked if he could say something about the nature of the universe that ordinary people would understand, he replied, “Things run down.” That principle is called entropy.
There is no way to avoid the reality of entropy without dire consequences. There is a laser-straight moral imperative embedded in the very nature of existence. Anyone who strays from that narrow pathway, will experience pain, and cause pain for others as well. If you are not part of the solution, you are, by default, part of the problem. As Edmund Burke reminds us, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”  Apathy is evil.
It isn’t just ancient religions that embrace the principle of “good vs. evil” or “order vs. chaos.” Modern science also demonstrates this way of looking at reality. Here is the embedded link to “Beyond the Physical”, which explains the human ability to affect reality with their minds. The search for the ‘theory of everything,’ which Einstein called the ‘unified field theory,’ has been the focus of attention for physicists since the early 1900’s. Modern scientists are exploring the idea that consciousness is the constant underlying the duality of energy and matter, thus resolving the century-long search for the unified field theory. Scientists who accept the “standard model” would disagree with this conclusion, but they would not disagree with the idea that consciousness affects reality, as demonstrated by Young’s “double-split“ theory, which proves the premise that consciousness affects reality.Watch this mind-blowing experiment
Here is an updated scientific observation of why you have the power: “A fundamental conclusion of the new physics also acknowledges that the observer creates the reality. As observers, we are personally involved with the creation of our own reality. Physicists are being forced to admit that the universe is a “mental” construction. Pioneering physicist Sir James Jeans wrote: “The stream of knowledge is heading toward a non-mechanical reality; the universe begins to look more like a great thought than like a great machine. Mind no longer appears to be an accidental intruder into the realm of matter, we ought rather hail it as the creator and governor of the realm of matter. Get over it, and accept the inarguable conclusion. The universe is immaterial, mental and spiritual.”  – R.C. Henry, Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Johns Hopkins University
What we think affects our reality, from the field of the cognitive influence on moods, to the very nature of the entire cosmos. Now here’s how you can have the power to promote goodness and order, and weaken evil and chaos. This is a metaphor, but it makes the dynamic crystal clear. Every kind act creates a divine spark. Every enlightened thought creates a divine spark. Every healing intent creates a divine spark. Every visit to a friend in a hospital creates a divine spark. Every time a hungry person is fed creates a divine spark. Every action that promotes justice creates a divine spark. God collects these divine sparks, and when there are enough of them, a holy conflagration transforms the physical cosmos into a divine reality. So go forth, create divine sparks, and change the world.

YOU HAVE THE POWER!
