Disney’s ‘Hocus Pocus’ Star Bette Midler Says ‘Tucker Carlson Should Be Arrested and Tried for Sedition’

Outspoken liberal
actress Bette Midler demanded that Fox News host Tucker Carlson
and Newt Gingrich be thrown in jail.
She also demanded
that Australian-born Rupert Murdoch have his American citizenship revoked.
76-year-old
Midler, known for her role in Disney’s
“Hocus Pocus,” said, “Tucker Carlson should be arrested and tried for sedition
and fomenting insurrection.”
Murdoch is an
owner of News Corporation, which is the parent company of Fox News. Murdoch
created the Fox News Channel in 1996.
“Murdoch should
have his citizenship revoked; the damage he continues to do to our democracy
will soon become irreparable,” Midler claimed. “Newt Gingrich should be clapped
in irons for getting him past the FCC.”
“Clapped in irons”
is widely understood to mean “abruptly place in jail.” Take a look:
“Sadly, this list
leaves off the most vicious, the ugliest, the most hate-filled owner of all,
Rupert Murdoch, Tucker Carlson’s master, who has ruined political discourse all
around the world,” Midler said.
She also shared an uncredited quote, “‘Own the press & 1/2 the work of. dictatorship is done.'”
