Garcetti is the mayor
of Los Angeles in California. While
the office of mayor is nonpartisan, Garcetti is a Democrat.[1][2] First
elected in 2013, he won a new term in the primary election on March 7, 2017.
Garcetti is Los Angeles' first Jewish mayor and, having been elected at 42
years old, was one of the youngest individuals to serve as mayor in the city's
history.[1][3][4]

announced he was nominating Garcetti to serve as the U.S. ambassador to India on July 9, 2021.
