The U.S. ambassador to Israel accused the British government of "Jew hate" on Saturday after British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband, who is Jewish, described the situation in Gaza as "horrific" in a video.

Ambassador Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor who has become one of the Trump administration's most confrontational voices on Israel, wrote on X that "the Brits have lost it" and that "the Jew hate of their government knows no boundaries and knows no facts."

The post targeted Miliband, who was appointed foreign secretary in July by Prime Minister Andy Burnham and is the son of Jewish refugees who fled Nazi Europe.

In an Instagram video released Friday by Britain's Foreign Office, Miliband said he had just left a meeting with people who had spent time in Gaza and found what they described as "horrific."

He recounted "medicines being blocked, children dying while waiting for vital life-saving treatment," and said the U.K. government had to act more decisively.

Israel's Foreign Ministry rejected the characterization outright.

In its own post, the ministry said there are no restrictions on medicines entering Gaza, that 22,500 tons of medical supplies have moved into the territory since the U.S.-brokered ceasefire began in October 2025, and that 200 Gaza residents left the Strip for medical treatment in the past two weeks alone.

Britain, the ministry added, sits on the International Gaza Support Center, which coordinates the deliveries. "Facts matter less," it concluded, "when making a video for a political audience."

The clash comes amid a broader realignment of British policy toward Israel.

Burnham, who succeeded Keir Starmer on July 20, has said his predecessor was too soft on the Israeli government, as AFP detailed in Saturday's wire coverage.

Miliband told British lawmakers earlier in the week that a "comprehensive" sanctions package aimed at Israeli settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank is coming.

Middle East Eye reported that Miliband warned Israel's planned E1 settlement construction near Jerusalem would jeopardize a two-state solution.

Huckabee spent Saturday in the West Bank village of Turmus Ayya, home to many Palestinian Americans, meeting residents who described settler attacks on their homes and property. He called the perpetrators "terrorists" and framed the settler attacks as acts of terror.

Hours later, he turned the same rhetorical edge on London.
