U.S. Chamber of Commerce Endorses Dems in Key House Races

The business group that has been pushing for amnesty but that has often backed Republican
candidates is throwing its support behind Democrats in several key House races
this cycle.
According to reports in Roll
Call, the U.S.
Chamber of Commerce will have
endorsed four Democratic candidates in the House races by the end of the
week.
Wednesday the Chamber endorsed California
Democratic Rep. Scott Peters, a vulnerable freshman
facing reelection against Republican challenger Carl DeMaio.
“We believe that your re-election to the U.S. House of
Representatives will help produce sustained economic growth, help create jobs,
and get our country back on track,” Chamber president Thomas Donohue wrote in a recent letter to Peter, quoted by UT San
Diego. “We will encourage the business community to vigorously support your
candidacy.”
Georgia Democratic Rep. John Barrow is also slated to
receive the Chamber’s official endorsement at an event on Friday, according to
Roll Call. Barrow also received the
Chamber’s endorsement last cycle.
Other Democratic House members receiving the
Chamber’s endorsement this year to date are Texas Rep. Henry Cuellar and
California Rep. Jim Costa.

Ounan, the executor of his
mother’s estate, filed suit against nursing home chain Sunrise Senior Living Services, Inc. on January 15, seeking damages for claims of
negligence and wrongful death. Nursing home administrator Lynn Plasha and nurse
Cynthia Harbaugh were also named as defendants.

After reading all of these
comments, it is amazing to see that all of the same problems and resident
neglect issues are nationwide. There are alot of wonderful,caring people that
work at Sunrise but clearly neither management nor corporate in Virginia
give a rat's ass. It's all about census and increasing care levels
unnecessarily in order to make more $$$. Many of the move-ins would be better
served in a skilled nursing facility but the ED cares only about filling a room
to meet census to make their bonus. The DCR only cares about filling a room to
make their few thousand dollar "move-in fee". And yes, once you speak
up on behalf of a resident to voice concern with a neglect issue, you go
directly to the Executive Director's shit list and get written up and then
shoved out the door. Families shouldn't waste their $ at Sunrise. Keep your
loved one in their own home and hire private help. Sunrise employees need to
band together to try to get a union in!
