Obama, Saudi king to ‘consult regularly’ on Iran

President Obama called King Abdullah bin Abd al-Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia to share details of the initial nuclear agreement with Iran, the White House said late Wednesday.

Obama reaffirmed “the importance of Iran following through on its commitments,” according to a White House readout of the call.

The White House said that Obama and Abdullah agreed to “consult regularly,” on the P5+1 negotiations, adding that Obama “reiterated the firm commitment of the United States to our friends and allies in the Gulf.”

Earlier this week, Saudi Arabia offered cautious support for the U.S.-backed deal.

“This agreement could be a first step towards a comprehensive solution for Iran's nuclear program, if there are good intentions,” the Saudi government said in a statement, according to the Agence France-Presse.

With that statement, Israel was left as the only vocal foe of the preliminary draft to loosen sanctions in exchange for a freeze on parts of Iran’s nuclear program.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denounced the deal, saying Israel would not be bound by the agreement.

“This agreement has made the world a much more dangerous place,” he said Sunday.

“Israel is not bound by this agreement,” Netanyahu added. “We will not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapons capability.”

BRUSSELS
Official figures show that the inflation rate in the 17-country eurozone rose modestly in November, a development that may ease the pressure on the European Central Bank to loosen its monetary policy further next week.

Eurostat, the EU's statistics office, says Friday that consumer prices were up 0.9 percent in the year to November. That's up from October's 0.7 percent rate and slightly ahead of market expectations for 0.8 percent.

Still, inflation remains well below the ECB's target to keep inflation just below 2 percent. It was the sharp fall in October that prompted the central bank to cut its main interest rate to a record low of 0.25 percent.

Separately, Eurostat says unemployment across the eurozone eased from September's record high of 12.2 percent to 12.1 percent in October.

Protesters, Construction Workers, And Police Clash Outside Monsanto Plant In Argentina (Video)

Protesters, Construction Workers, And Police Clash Outside Monsanto Plant In Argentina (Video)
Friday, November 29, 2013 7:21
(N.Morgan) The movement against Monsanto has become global and is intensifying with each protest and each bill that’s passed, to poison us, with their toxic foods. This time, chaos erupted at a protest in Argentina. The people of Argentina don’t want a Monsanto plant or anything Monsanto near them! They are wise

Members of the Argentine Construction Union clashed with a camp of enviromental demonstrators protesting against the construction of a Monsanto plant in the Cordoba province on Thursday.
The construction workers attacked the camp injuring around 20 demonstrators, police intervened using tear gas. According to Monsato executive Adrian Vilaba, the protesters had been damaging the construction worker’s cars.
The U.S based seed corporation is currently building a corn-processing plant in the area, plans were put to a stop in October as demonstrators were preventing supplies from reaching the building site.
Environmentalists oppose Monsanto’s genetically modified crops, however members of the Construction Union accuse the demonstrators of preventing them from doing their job.

Miley Cyrus Winning Time Mag's Online 'Person of Year' Poll

Miley Cyrus Winning Time Mag's Online 'Person of Year' Poll
by Breitbart News 27 Nov 2013
Could Miley Cyrus be crowned Time magazine's Person of the Year?

It's doubtful the magazine would choose the tongue-wagging singer over far more worthy candidates who had a real impact in the culture. The magazine's online poll, where readers get the chance to weigh in on the subject, is another matter.

Cyrus is currently crushing her competition as of Wednesday 7 p.m. EST. Cyrus leads the pack with 29.1 percent of the poll, while her closest competition, Narendra Modi (Chief Minister of the Indian state of Gujarat), only has 12.1 percent.

Perhaps readers no longer take the Time magazine honor seriously, or fans of the sexually explicit singer care deeply about the title.

Pizza Hut offers to rehire manager who refused to open on holiday

Pizza Hut offers to rehire manager who refused to open on holiday
By Lisa Maria Garza (Reuters)
A store manager of a Pizza Hut franchise in Indiana is mulling over a rehire offer from the worldwide pizza chain after he was fired for refusing to open the restaurant on Thanksgiving Day.

Tony Rohr, 28, said he was told to write a letter of resignation after deciding to give his employees at the Elkhart, Indiana, store the holiday off. He told South Bend, Indiana, station WSBT-TV that he instead wrote a letter explaining why the store, part of Yum Brands Inc, should be closed, and then he was fired.

Pizza Hut's corporate office said in a statement it "strongly recommended that the local franchisee reinstate the store manager, and they have agreed." Although the choice to open on a holiday is made at the local level, most U.S. franchise locations are closed on Thanksgiving, it said.

As Rohr prepared to celebrate Thanksgiving with his family on Thursday, he told CNN he had not decided how to respond to the rehire offer. "That's something I can't decide right away," he said. "I'll start looking into stuff tomorrow."

A call by Reuters to the store formerly managed by Rohr was answered with a recorded message saying: "We are closed for the holiday." With U.S. retailers offering "Black Friday" discount deals before Thanksgiving, critics circulated online petitions, and a handful of franchise owners said they had defied corporate orders by keeping their stores closed for the holiday.

"It bothers me that this country is allowing them to dictate time away from our families," Holly Cassiano, who refused to open her Sears franchise in Plymouth, New Hampshire, told CNN.

Among other retailers, grocer Whole Foods Market Inc. said its Thanksgiving work shifts were voluntary and that it would compensate staff with time-and-a-half pay. Discount chain Kmart, a Sears unit, said it had offered its holiday workers the same arrangement.

Haim Saban Throwing Israel Under Bus for Access to Obama

Haim Saban Throwing Israel Under Bus for Access to Obama
by William Bigelow 27 Nov 2013
Haim Saban, the Israeli whose capital group owns Univision, often boasts of his support for Israel. Yet Saban held a fundraiser for President Barack Obama Monday only two days after Obama announced a deal with Iran that puts Israel in mortal danger as it enables the Iranians to escape sanctions and continue with their nuclear plans. Saban actually had the chutzpah to say Obama’s “commitment to Israel’s security has never been stronger.”

At his palatial Beverly Hills home, Saban introduced Obama like this:

We’re out of Iraq, we’re out of Afghanistan and the military and intelligence cooperation with Israel — our staunchest ally in the Middle East, arguably in the world, has never been deeper and the president’s commitment to Israel’s security has never been strongerAnd if the Iranians are at the negotiating table today, make no mistake about it, it is only as a result of President Obama’s resolve in striking down the most strict sanctions ever.” The event was the second fundraiser of the night for Obama and the first Saban has hosted for the President directly.

Just last month, Southern Californias Public Radio reported that Saban used to be distant from Obama:

But it took him a long time to start writing checks to Barack Obama, whom he viewed as soft on Israel. “Saban was very hesitant and very suspicious that Obama was, at the worst, anti-Israel and the best, neutral on Israel,” said Sherry Bebitch Jeffe, senior fellow at USC’s Price School of Public Policy. “And that didn’t cut it.

Saban used to be tough on the Iranians. What happened? He told Haaretz in 2006,

When I see Ahmadinejad, I see Hitler. They speak the same language. His motivation is also clear: the return of the Mahdi is a supreme goal. And for a religious person of deep self-persuasion, that supreme goal is worth the liquidation of five and a half million Jews. We cannot allow ourselves that. Nuclear weapons in the hands of a religious leadership that is convinced that the annihilation of Israel will bring about the emergence of a new Muslim caliphate? Israel cannot allow that. This is no game. It's truly an existential danger.

Contacted by TruthRevolt.org, Saban would not comment on why he still supported Obama despite the new Iranian deal. But when one examines statements he’s made in the past, it’s all too clear that his statement to the New York Times in 2004, "I'm a one-issue guy and my issue is Israel,” is not where his heart truly lies. To understand that it’s proximity to power, not Israel, that matters to Saban, check out this bit from a 2004 interview with Haaretz:

But I do not belittle the fact that I can go to Angela Merkel in the Chancellory and say, 'Hi, Angela, how are you?' And she replies, 'Haim, nice to see you.' I don't minimize that. That's a great pleasure. And that I sit with Clinton in the White House and he goes to the refrigerator and asks me if I want regular water or fizzy? Sometimes I tell myself that there's something a bit nutty here. He's the president of the United States. I sell cartoons. So he is going to serve me and ask if I want regular or fizzy water?

When he was asked if a President Hillary Clinton would be capable of making tough decisions on Iran, he replied:

Her policy will be different. She believes, and I agree, that it's a mistake to conduct negotiations through the European envoys. As I told you about Hamas, we have to talk with everyone, including Ahmadinejad. Hillary Clinton intends to engage with Iran in order to try to find a political solution that will ensure a non-nuclear Iran.

As long as Obama is president of the United States, Saban will suck up to him. Even if the “one issue” that matters to him has its very existence threatened.

Kuwaiti Newspaper: Obama Negotiating with Hezbollah Terrorists

Kuwaiti Newspaper: Obama Negotiating with Hezbollah Terrorists
by Joel B. Pollak 27 Nov 2013, 12:29 PM PDT
The Obama administration has entered secret talks with the Hezbollah terrorist group, mediated by Great Britain, according to a report in the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai, as relayed by the Jerusalem Post Wednesday.

The State Department lists Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. Thirty years ago, Hezbollah bombed a U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, killing 241. Hezbollah is currently helping to prop up the Assad regime in Syria, in a war that has claimed over 100,000 civilian lives. The organization is also dedicated to Israel's destruction.

According to the report, President Barack Obama opened the "secret indirect talks" to discuss "the fight against al-Qaida, regional stability, and other Lebanese political issues." Hezbollah is supported by Iran and has been involved in terrorism throughout the world. It has also been active in other conflicts, laundering money through the trade in illicit diamonds the fueled the civil war in Sierra Leone in the 1990s, for example.
