A nationwide recall was issued for Starbucks Frappuccino Vanilla drinks nationwide due to the bottles possibly containing glass.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notice (pdf), issued on Jan. 28, stated that the chilled coffee drink are sold nationwide and have best by dates of March 8, May 29, June 4, and June 10.

The FDA notice stated that the recall is due to “foreign objects (glass)” in the products.

The recall affects 25,200 cases of select 13.7-ounce Starbucks Frappuccino Vanilla drinks. There are 12 bottles per case, which equals a total of 302,400 individual bottles.

People should not drink them and should return the bottles to the retailer where they purchased them from for a full refund.

PepsiCo, which releases the bottled Starbucks coffee drinks, also announced the recall. A representative of the company told media outlets that the affected products are being removed from the marketplace, and that they “are not sold at Starbucks retail locations.”

“The North American Coffee Partnership is committed to a high level of quality in the products we serve. Delivering a quality experience to our consumers is our top priority and we always act with an abundance of caution whenever a potential concern is raised,” reads the statement made on behalf of the North American Coffee Partnership.

It is a Class II recall, which the FDA defines as a “situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Tuesday defended the federal response to the fiery derailment of a train in Ohio that was carrying hazardous materials, saying officials are working "to keep residents safe."

In a post on Twitter, Buttigieg hailed the cleanup and monitoring effort, saying, "From day one, our USDOT personnel have been assisting in the response to the Norfolk Southern derailment in Ohio."

"As NTSB conducts its investigation and EPA works to keep residents safe, our Federal Rail and Pipeline and Hazardous Material teams will continue to offer support," he wrote.

The EPA announced in a tweet that "our air monitoring has not detected any levels of health concern that can be attributed to the incident."

The assurances came as residents in East Palestine, Ohio, returned to their homes after evacuation amid fears about explosions from the derailed train that was carrying hazardous materials, The Hill reported.

The contents of the rail cars were burned to prevent an explosion, while officials conducted a "controlled release" of toxic chemicals. Noxious odors have also largely dispersed from town, though still remain near some streams, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The Wall Street Journal reported that about 50 cars of a 150-car Norfolk Southern train derailed Feb. 3, causing a chemical fire, with officials later draining vinyl chloride — a colorless gas that can burn easily and is used to make hard plastic resin — from five tanker cars to prevent an explosion.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the DOT.

Air testing inside 291 homes detected no vinyl chloride or hydrogen chloride, the EPA said on Monday, the Journal reported, but 181 more homes still need to be screened.

The railroad has already restarted service along the train route, which serves a major rail yard in Conway, Pennsylvania, about 25 miles southeast of East Palestine.

"Our hazmat team was in East Palestine within an hour of the incident, and the response continues today in close coordination" with local, state and federal officials, Norfolk said Monday in a statement, the Journal reported.

About 4.5 million tons of toxic chemicals are transported through U.S. communities every year by rail, and 12,000 trains carrying hazardous materials cross through towns and cities each day, The Guardian reported.

"The Palestine wreck is the tip of the iceberg and a red flag," Ron Kaminkow, a former Norfolk Southern freight engineer and secretary for the Railroad Workers United, told The Guardian. "If something is not done, then it's going to get worse, and the next derailment could be cataclysmic."

The Chinese spy balloon had maneuvering capability and had similarities to the Google balloon project Loon, which utilized AI analytics in its operations, according to Col. (Ret.) John Mills, an author and former director of cybersecurity policy, strategy, and international affairs at the Department of Defense.

“What’s very interesting is in 2012, I was at Google and Google briefed me on Project Loon, their balloon project. And they use their advanced AI and analytics to raise and lower the balloon and they could maintain the position of a balloon by raising and lowering it. And they could also maneuver it,” Mills said in an interview recorded on Feb. 9 on China in Focus, a show on NTD TV, The Epoch Times’ sister media.

He said throughout the “spy balloon” episode that the Department of Defense has very clearly said that the Chinese balloon had maneuvering capability.

The Chinese regime maintained that it was a runaway weather balloon, but the U.S. administration has refuted such claims.

“This was a PRC surveillance balloon. This surveillance balloon purposely traversed the United States and Canada, and we are confident it was seeking to monitor sensitive military sites,” said a senior defense official speaking on background in a statement on Feb. 4, indicating that the balloon could steer itself over the United States.

Mills said that when Google briefed him about the Loon project a decade ago, he was struck by its similarities with the CIA balloon projects of the past.

“This looks a lot like the CIA project from the 50s and 60s. It was called by about 10 different code names—Skyhook, AshCan [etc.]. The Google Project Manager … had left NASA and was working for Google, goes, ‘Yes, we actually FOA’d [Freedom of Information Act] CIA, and they gave us all the plans,” said Mills.

Google’s parent company, Alphabet, was using Project Loon to explore the possibility of using a fleet of balloons to beam high-speed internet in remote areas of the world and was shut down after nine years because Google couldn’t find a sustainable business model and partners.

However, it was not sufficiently clear why it was shut down and Tech Crunch called its closure “surprising,” because a year before, it had gotten approval from the Kenyan government to provide commercial connectivity services.

In Project Loon, Google had replicated the information it received from the CIA through the FOA, but what was different was that Google used its advanced artificial intelligence and big data analytics to maneuver the balloon, according to Mills.

“The Chinese spy balloon had maneuvering capability, which is interesting. So did the Chinese rip-off Google, which borrowed from CIA? Curious question!” he said.

The Epoch Times reached out to Google for comment.

Mills thinks that the Chinese were clearly conducting surveillance over specific U.S. strategic sites.

“I don’t think it’s a coincidence that they were over the three … existing missile wings,” said Mills, adding that the United States roughly maintains 450 Minuteman III missiles on alert at three different missile wings. “So roughly 150 missiles each at Malmstrom Montana Air Force Base, Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota—which also has a bomber base—then Francis E. Warren in Wyoming.”

The Minuteman is a strategic weapon system using a ballistic missile of intercontinental range, according to the Defense Department website, and the American intercontinental ballistic missile force has remained on continuous round-the-clock alert since 1959. The Minuteman III missiles make up the most responsive leg of the nuclear triad.

“The Chinese were clearly conducting surveillance. They were exploiting gaps and seams in our air surveillance, our air picture. They clearly were doing that, and they were clearly collecting information and it also looked like the trackway went over Strategic Command Headquarters at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska,” said Mills.

He suspects that the Chinese balloon was a spy operation and while it was over Nebraska, the Chinese were spying on the underground facilities.

“They were clearly doing electronic signals collection, perhaps imagery, perhaps measuring intelligence—all forms. Believe me, they probably had all kinds of different little sensors and subsensors collecting everything. So, there’s no question; they can call it weather all they want,” said Mills.

The Duke University children’s hospital is denying a young girl a kidney transplant because she has not received a COVID vaccine, her family says.

Yulia Hicks, 14, has a genetic kidney disorder that requires a kidney transplant, but according to her family, Duke Children’s Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, is refusing to put her on the kidney wait list because she is unvaccinated.

Yulia’s adoptive parents recorded a phone call with Duke Health in which the family was told that doctors would not do the kidney transplant unless Yulia received a COVID vaccine.

“I can’t require you to do anything. I can recommend these things, but if you don’t follow our recommendations, then Yulia can’t be a transplant candidate here,” a Duke Health kidney specialist reportedly told the Hicks in the phone call.

“Being unvaccinated to the CDC recommended vaccinations based on her age is part of that,” the kidney specialist added.

Her family says Yulia has already contracted COVID and recovered, but doctors told them Yulia’s natural immunity was not enough, according to a recorded call.

“The virus has continued to mutate and so the natural immunity is not as good as if you had natural immunity plus vaccination,” one doctor said in the phone call.

Some studies have shown that natural immunity can be superior to the COVID vaccine. One recent study also suggested that the COVID vaccine could be to blame for certain organ transplant recipients rejecting their new organs.

Contacted for comment, a representative for Duke Health initially told The Daily Wire that they would check on the situation but failed to provide a comment by the deadline.

The Hicks family has 11 children including Yulia, who they adopted from Ukraine in January 2021. Yulia stayed with two other U.S. families before the Hicks, who are working hard to give her a stable, loving home.

Yulia’s condition requires daily peritoneal dialysis, which her family has done with her at home every night for over a year. They say that they have been working with Duke for the last two years since her dialysis is through the hospital.

“They tell us all the time she’s a model patient,” Hicks told The Daily Wire. “We do everything they tell us to do, really. The only thing we won’t do is get this COVID vaccine.”

“That’s why we feel like it’s kind of a power struggle because it’s like, you told us it was a recommendation. Recommendation means I get to choose. But you’re denying me because of your recommendation,” Hicks added.

On Friday, Hicks appeared on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show and said they are hoping a medical center will come forward and offer to perform the transplant without the vaccination requirement.

“There’s no sympathy whatsoever from any of them. It’s just strong-arming us, just give her the vaccine and then you’ll get the transplant,” Hicks told Carlson.

The family has also retained an attorney, but her mother said they cannot have Yulia’s life hanging in the balance with litigation, so they are not sure what legal moves they will make.

Hicks said that while their family no longer has faith in the doctors at Duke to perform Yulia’s transplant, they still want the policy changed for others.

“This is not just us that’s facing this. We’ve been given a microphone for whatever reason,” Hicks told The Daily Wire. “It’s not just for us. It’s to change the policy so that other people don’t suffer the same thing that we’re suffering.”

Hicks said the experience has taken an emotional toll on her because the doctors “bully” her more than they do her military husband. She now sends her husband with Yulia to attend most of their appointments.

“We really try to shield our children a lot from it. We just don’t want them to have to carry our burden,” Hicks said.

“We’re both veterans. We fought for freedom and we’re not even able to experience it right now,” she continued.

Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin have teamed up once again — this time for revenge — in the newly released Moving On trailer.

The preview, which dropped Wednesday (below), gives a first look at the two icons together in the new comedy. The film, written and directed by Paul Weitz, also stars Malcolm McDowell, Richard Roundtree, Catherine Dent and Eddie Martinez.

Fonda and Tomlin’s characters are estranged friends who reconnect at their best friend’s funeral to seek revenge on her widower, Howard (McDowell), who messed with them more than four decades prior. “Howard, I’m gonna kill you,” Fonda says to a taken aback McDowell in the trailer. “Now that she’s gone, I’m going to do it this weekend.”

The duo sketch out different plans to take down McDowell, including looking into guns and poison. “So, what’s the plan, Scarface?” Tomlin asks Fonda. At one point, Fonda is seen grabbing a knife as she heads toward McDowell while at a gathering together.

Through their mischief, Fonda even reunites with a former great love (Roundtree). “I am shocked by your utter selfishness,” McDowell says, addressing Fonda. “You blame me for what happened in your own marriage. I think you were not built for happiness.”

Throughout the film, Tomlin and Fonda’s characters work on making peace with the past, with their former relationships and with one another, all while bringing humor at every turn.

Moving On marked Fonda and Tomlin’s first onscreen collaboration together since wrapping Netflix’s Grace & Frankie, where they co-starred together for seven seasons. The comedy was the streamer’s longest-running series when it wrapped in May 2022.

“When I’m not with Lily for a few days, I miss her. It’s visceral,” Fonda previously told The Hollywood Reporter of working with Tomlin. “She has a humor that comes from deep within. It’s soulful, it’s not cynical, and it’s never at anyone’s expense.”

As the friends were wrapping their run on Grace & Frankie, it was Tomlin who reached out to Weitz, who has previously directed both Tomlin and Fonda, and decided to pitch their next project. “I was sitting on the set of Grace and Frankie a couple of years before COVID, and I said to Jane, ‘I’m going to call Paul Weitz and tell him to write a movie for us,'” Tomlin shared with THR in 2022 near the end of Grace & Frankie‘s run. “I made the call, and he wrote Moving On. It’s my third movie with him. I just like him so much as a director and a writer.”

Of her relationship with Fonda, Tomlin added, “We both have the same work ethic and we genuinely love each other, even though we come from such different backgrounds. I know she has my back, and I know I have hers. And I’m of course interested in all her political activities.”

In her recent cover story with THR, Fonda echoed that the appeal of the 9 to 5 duo’s long-term friendship is how different they are: “She’s got this funny bone that’s just innate, and I’m in awe of it because it’s the opposite of me. I come from a long line of depressives.”

The duo also have 80 for Brady, which filmed after Moving On but releases first, coming out on Friday. The film sees Fonda, Tomlin, Rita Moreno and Sally Field as friends who head to Houston for Super Bowl LI to see their hero Tom Brady in action. The real-life friendly foursome debuted the road-trip movie with Brady on the red carpet Thursday, ahead of its release in theaters.

Moving On will debut in theaters March 17.
