Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who served in the George W. Bush administration, went viral this week for her take on "school choice."

"So are you for school choice or not? We already have a choice system in education," Rice said in a speech at the Reagan Presidential Library earlier this month.

"If you are of means, you will move to a district where the schools are good and the houses are expensive, like Palo Alto, California. If you go across the street from Stanford, Palo Alto High has a performance arts center that looks like a smaller version of Stanford's.

"If you're really wealthy, you will send your kids to private schools. So who's stuck in failing neighborhood schools? Poor kids. A lot of them minority kids. So how can you say you're for civil rights? How can you say you're for the poor when you're condemning those children to not being able to read by the time they're in third grade?

"They're never going to read. So if you want to say that school choice and vouchers and charter schools are destroying the public schools, fine. You write that editorial in The Washington Post, but then don't send your kids to Sidwell Friends."

Sidwell Friends sits as an elite private school outside of Washington, D.C. Tuition costs roughly $50,000 a year.

On X, Rice's speech, as of Saturday, racked up over 800,000 views, over 3,000 likes, and over 200 comments, among which some even called for her to run for president.

Missouri AG Sues IBM Over Alleged Violations of State’s Human Rights Act (Connecting the Dots: IBM, Silver Lake, Soros Fund Management & Soros Funding, All Networking)

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, initiated legal action against IBM on June 20, alleging that the company’s employment practices violate state anti-discrimination laws.

The lawsuit, filed in the Circuit Court of St. Louis County, asserts that International Business Machines Corp.’s “diversity modifier” system imposes unlawful employment quotas based on race, color, national origin, sex, and ancestry, tying executive compensation to these quotas.

“It has come to my attention that IBM has adopted an unlawful policy that blatantly favors applicants of a certain skin color over others, and that managers within the company who refuse to comply with said policy face adverse action, including and up to, termination,” Mr. Bailey said in a statement after the suit was filed. “Missourians deserve answers as to why one of the largest technology and consulting companies in the world, with offices based in Missouri, is discriminating against both prospective and current employees.”

AG’s Complaint

According to the lawsuit, IBM executives are pressured to meet specific diversity quotas, with their bonuses and job security at stake.

“IBM gives its executives two choices: discriminate or lose your job,” the complaint states, and describes the “diversity modifier” as a mechanism that links executive bonuses to achieving racial, gender, and other demographic quotas.

The complaint details IBM’s alleged quota system through statements from IBM’s CEO, Arvind Krishna, who is reported to have said that IBM’s goals include achieving demographic representation reflective of the general population.

“IBM has made clear its goals of using discriminatory and insufficiently tailored means to bring about discriminatory and unjustifiable ends,” the lawsuit claims.

The lawsuit further asserts that this quota system compels IBM’s executives to make employment decisions primarily based on applicants’ demographic characteristics rather than their qualifications.

This, according to the attorney general, not only discriminates against certain groups but also subjects executives who fail to meet these quotas to adverse employment actions, including reduced bonuses and potential termination.

The attorney general’s office claims that such practices violate Chapter 213 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri, which prohibits discriminatory employment practices.

“It is an unlawful discriminatory practice for an employer to fail or refuse to hire any individual, or otherwise to discriminate against any individual with respect to his or her compensation, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment, because of such individual’s race, color, national origin, sex, or ancestry,” Mr. Bailey, a Republican, wrote in the lawsuit.

The complaint also references two recent Supreme Court cases, where the court ruled that race-based affirmative action programs in college admissions violate the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment. The suit says these cases bolster the argument that racial quotas and balancing are “patently unconstitutional” and also violates Missouri law.

Specific Allegations and Requested Action

The suit contains several alleged violations of the state’s law, including inciting, aiding, or coercing discriminatory practices; limiting, segregating, or classifying employment applicants; unlawful printing or circulation; improper employment inquiries and application forms; failing to hire individuals; and retaliation against those opposing these discriminatory practices.

They make the allegations of violating the law using evidence, primarily statements made by Mr. Krishna in a video that was released on X in late 2023.

The video, which features Mr. Krishna along with other executives—including Paul Cormier, chairman and former CEO of Red Hat, and Allison Showalter, senior director of corporate communications at Red Hat—captures Mr. Krishna openly discussing IBM’s diversity hiring practices. It was part of an internal meeting and was leaked to the public.

In the footage, Mr. Krishna is seen responding to questions about IBM’s efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within its executive ranks.

He candidly acknowledges that IBM employs a quota system for increasing the representation of underrepresented minorities among its executives. Specifically, he mentions that IBM’s goal is to move forward by 1 percent each year in terms of hiring and promoting black and Hispanic individuals, as well as increasing gender diversity.

Mr. Krishna elaborates that executive bonuses are directly tied to meeting these diversity targets. He states that executives receive a “plus” on their bonuses if they achieve the desired demographic shifts, but face penalties if they fail to do so.

The lawsuit argues that these statements confirm IBM’s use of discriminatory quotas, which the attorney general contends violate Missouri’s anti-discrimination laws. By tying executive compensation to the attainment of specific demographic goals, IBM allegedly compels its leaders to engage in unlawful employment practices, thereby perpetuating systemic discrimination within the company.

The lawsuit seeks a permanent injunction to prohibit IBM from using its “diversity modifier” quotas in Missouri. The attorney general’s office also requests additional relief to ensure compliance with Missouri’s anti-discrimination laws and to protect the rights of Missouri citizens from systemic discrimination.

IBM is a publicly traded corporation with offices worldwide, including two in the state of Missouri. In 2023, IBM’s worldwide employment stood at about 282 thousand people, according to the suit.

The Epoch Times contacted IBM for comment.

Report: FCC Fast-Tracking Soros Radio Takeover (Connecting the Dots: Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Obama, Sidley Austin LLP, President's Intelligence Advisory Board, Michael Powell & Soros Funding, All Networking)

The Democrat-majority Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is fast-tracking progressive billionaire George Soros' takeover of the second-largest radio network in the United States just months before the 2024 presidential election.

In February, Soros Fund Management purchased $400 million of debt in Audacy, which is the No. 2 U.S. broadcaster after iHeartMedia, the New York Post reported, citing bankruptcy filings.

The network, which owns more than 220 stations nationwide and reaches 165 million monthly listeners, broadcasts a small number of conservative shows from hosts including Erick Erickson, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and Dana Loesch.

Their days at a Soros-controlled station could be numbered, a source with knowledge of the deal told the Post.

"The idea that George Soros is buying hundreds of local radio stations right before a national election and will keep broadcasting Sean Hannity and other conservative talk radio hosts on Audacy is not credible," the source said.

To assume control of the bankrupt network, Soros Fund Management needs the FCC to make an exception and allow a larger than usual percentage of foreign money to purchase it.

Foreign company ownership of U.S. radio stations is not permitted to exceed 25% under existing FCC rules. A filing acquired by the Post shows that Soros asked the commission to make an exception in Audacy's case, however.

FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr is sounding off about the potential agency assist, telling the Post, "The FCC should not create a special Soros shortcut."

"When it comes to a broadcast station acquisition of this size and magnitude – hundreds of radio stations across more than 45 markets – the FCC needs to run its full and normal review process," Carr said. "The FCC should not be skipping steps or waiving required agency processes."

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, wrote the FCC in late April that the Soros group was trying to waive the usual process and "put it off until sometime down the road — indicating that those foreign stakeholders will be given 'special warrants' in the meantime."

Newsmax reached out to the FCC for comment but did not immediately hear back.

A representative for Soros Fund Management told the Post the company does not comment on ongoing transactions.

It's the latest move into American radio for the left-leaning financier's eponymous company. In 2022, it brokered Univision's $60 million sale of 18 primarily conservative Hispanic radio stations and also acquired the liberal podcast network Crooked Media.

The Post's sources said that Soros' stake in Audacy is around 40% of the company's senior debt, which could give him effective control when it emerges from bankruptcy, despite not being a majority.

Coming just five months before the 2024 presidential election, the timing of the deal has raised questions, as well as eyebrows.

One Republican source told the Post it was possible that Soros was buying the stake in the broadcasting giant to influence public opinion in the run-up to November's election.

"This is scary," the source said.

Washington, DC – (May 15, 2024) – CNN will host an election debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald J. Trump on June 27, 2024 at 9pm ET from the crucial battleground state of Georgia.

The debate will be held in CNN’s Atlanta studios. CNN Anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash will serve as moderators. To ensure candidates may maximize the time allotted in the debate, no audience will be present. Additional details on the format and parameters for the debate can be found here.

Polls that meet CNN editorial standards and will be considered qualifying polls include those sponsored by: CNN, ABC News, CBS News, Fox News, Marquette University Law School, Monmouth University, NBC News, the New York Times/Siena College, NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist College, Quinnipiac University, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post.
