Actor Alec Baldwin said this week that "Americans are very uninformed about reality" outside the United States, saying that films help people "learn what is happening ... around the world."

Baldwin, a longtime supporter of the Democratic Party and a vocal critic of President-elect Donald Trump, spoke during a press conference at the Torino Film Festival in Italy about the role of the film industry in "filling the gaps" for Americans who don't know much about the world outside the U.S.

"Americans are very uninformed about reality, what's really going on with climate change, Ukraine, Israel, you name it — all the biggest topics in the world," he said. "Americans have an appetite for a little bit of information."

He added, "That vacuum is filled by the film industry not just the independent film industry, not just the documentary film industry, which are very important around the world, but by narrative films as well, where the filmmakers and the buyers, the studios and the networks and the streamers are willing to go that way, and they're willing to try to make films that are not only entertaining but informative as well."

Baldwin said, "Now is probably one of the most important times in our history for us to make films that will teach people about what reality is around the world."

US Oil Companies Unlikely to ‘Drill, Baby, Drill’ Under Trump, Exxon Executive Says (Connecting the Dots: Exxon, Chevron, Department of Energy, Department of Interior, Belizean Grove, Bohemian Club, Business Roundtable & Soros Funding, All Networking)

Trump had vowed throughout his presidential campaign to allow energy companies to drill more for oil and gas to boost output and lower prices for consumers.

https://www.theepochtimes.com/us/us-oil-companies-unlikely-to-drill-baby-drill-under-trump-exxon-executive-says-5766506

Despite President-elect Donald Trump’s vow to drill more for oil and gas, an executive with oil giant Exxon said that petroleum producers are unlikely to radically increase production as companies remained focused on capital discipline.

“We’re not going to see anybody in ‘drill, baby, drill’ mode,” Liam Mallon, head of Exxon’s upstream division, told the Energy Intelligence Forum conference in London on Tuesday, quoting Trump’s election promise to expand drilling once in office. “A radical change [in production] is unlikely because the vast majority, if not everybody, is focused on the economics of what they’re doing.”

Mallon said that “maintaining the discipline, driving the quality, driving the information, will naturally limit that growth rate.”

But Mallon said that the federal relaxing of land permitting processing could provide a short-term boost to oil and gas production.

Exxon earlier this year completed the $60 billion acquisition of smaller U.S. rival Pioneer Natural Resources, consolidating its position as the largest shale producer. Exxon expects to grow oil production in the Permian shale basin to more than 2 million barrels per day, Mallon said.

“We see growth beyond the 2 million probably for a couple of years but not at that continuous same rate ... certainly up to 2030 we see it growing,” he told the conference.

Throughout his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump vowed to allow energy companies to drill more for oil and natural gas to boost output and lower prices for consumers. During rallies and in advertisements, the president-elect used the slogan “drill, baby, drill” to refer to his energy plan while in office.

The United States has become the world’s top oil producer following a surge in shale oil production, pumping more than 13 million barrels per day earlier this year. It is also the world’s leading natural gas producer.

Chevron officials have said that they will see their peak capital expenditure in the Permian soon. Mike Wirth, the company’s chief executive, said in a quarterly earnings call on Nov. 2 that “this year is probably going to be the peak in Permian CapEx,” according to a transcript of his call.

In his campaign speech at Madison Square Garden in late October, Trump asserted that his policies would “cut your energy prices in half,” adding that Americans would see a 50 percent reduction in their costs within a year of Inauguration Day.

Days after winning the election, Trump tapped North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum to oversee the Department of Interior, which oversees land permitting for drilling. Burgum will also oversee a newly created National Energy Council to bolster U.S. energy production.

“This Council will oversee the path to U.S. ENERGY DOMINANCE by cutting red tape, enhancing private sector investments across all sectors of the Economy, and by focusing on INNOVATION over longstanding, but totally unnecessary, regulation,” Trump said in his Nov. 15 statement announcing Burgum as his selection for the position.

The president-elect also said in his statement that the “radical left” is engaging in a war on U.S. energy in the guise of climate action.

Separately, Trump announced this month he would nominate fracking services executive Chris Wright to head the Department of Energy, signaling that he would ramp up drilling for oil and gas during his term.

“Chris has been a leading technologist and entrepreneur in Energy. He has worked in Nuclear, Solar, Geothermal, and Oil and Gas,” Trump wrote in a statement announcing his selection of Wright for the role.

Fracking, or hydraulic fracturing, accounts for the majority of America’s domestic gas and oil production, according to the Energy Department’s figures, which show that about 95 percent of new wells use the process.

The federal health agency will no longer prohibit posts with what it deems ’misleading‘ or ’demonstrably false' information.

https://www.theepochtimes.com/us/cdc-amends-public-comments-policy-amid-censorship-lawsuit-5766551

A webpage detailing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s policy for moderating public comments has been revised amid litigation accusing the agency of censorship.

The webpage outlines the CDC’s “Guidelines for Public Comments” on its websites, social media profiles, blogs, and applications. It also states that comments found to violate agency policy may be hidden or removed.

Last updated on Nov. 25, the policy prohibits comments that contain personally identifiable information; threats of harm or violence; profanity, nudity, obscenity, or vulgarity; or the explicit promotion of commercial products or services.

However, an archived version of the page shows that the list has been winnowed down since February, when it also barred “misleading or false information,” defamation, name-calling or personal attacks, comments that infringe on copyrights, and spam.

Notably, a similar version of the initial list appeared on the CDC’s website as recently as Nov. 23. At that point, the only meaningful change since February was that “misleading or false information” had been revised to read “demonstrably false information.”

Heralding the revisions as “great news” in an X post, attorney Aaron Siri attributed them to the lawsuit he filed in July on behalf of independent journalist Lindsay Jones.

“Our lawsuit, supported by [Informed Consent Action Network], not only resulted in CDC unblocking people across X, it has now also resulted in CDC changing its rules to no longer block users for claimed ‘misleading or false information,’” Siri wrote.

The Epoch Times contacted the CDC for comment but received no reply by publication time.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, alleges that the CDC’s decision to block Jones on the X platform violated her First Amendment rights.

“This case presents the unfortunate and increasingly common scenario wherein thin-skinned governmental agencies and representatives are unconstitutionally blocking American constituents’ access to governmental social media profiles used to provide the public updates and policy discussions, and a forum for discussion on updates and policies, based on viewpoints that disagree with the governmental update or policy,” the filing states.

According to the complaint, Jones first became aware that she had been blocked on or around Dec. 16, 2023, after publishing several popular posts that challenged CDC policies and statements surrounding different vaccines.

The lawsuit states that the blocking was in retaliation for Jones’s criticism and constituted an act of viewpoint discrimination. It seeks an injunction declaring the CDC’s actions and public comments policy unconstitutional.

The Department of Justice has yet to file a response with the court, though the CDC has since unblocked Jones on X.

“My lawsuit is still moving forward since they’ve shown they can block American citizens at any time for simply pointing out factual inaccuracies or inconvenient truths in their social media posts,” Jones wrote on X on Aug. 27.

“The 1st Amendment is worth fighting for.”

Elon Musk rekindled a longstanding feud with fellow billionaire Jeff Bezos with an assertion the Amazon founder was encouraging "everyone" to sell off their Tesla and SpaceX stock in the event of a certain loss by Donald Trump in the Nov. 5 election, a charge Bezos denied.

Musk is the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX.

"Just learned tonight at Mar-a-Lago that Jeff Bezos was telling everyone that @realDonaldTrump would lose for sure, so they should sell all their Tesla and SpaceX stock," Musk wrote in an X post early Thursday morning.

"Nope. 100% not true," Bezos posted to X, also owned by Musk, later Thursday morning.

Tesla shares went up by 44% between Nov. 4 and Nov. 11, suggesting investors saw Musk reaping the benefits of a Trump victory, Business Insider reported.

Musk has been camped out at Mar-a-Lago, President-elect Trump's Palm Beach, Florida, estate, since the election victory, helping with the transition and preparing for the launch of the new Department of Government Efficiency, which he will run with Vivek Ramaswamy to reduce wasteful spending in the federal government.

In June, Musk accused Bezos, also the CEO of Blue Origin, a competitor of Musk's SpaceX, of "lawfare" over Blue Origin's filing with the Federal Aviation Administration that argued launching Musk's Starship rockets from NASA's Kennedy Space Center should be limited to ensure "minimal impact on the local environment, locally operating personnel, and the local community," Futurism reported.

Musk then dubbed Blue Origin "Sue Origin."

Musk's ribbing of Blue Origin dates to 2019 when derided Bezos' Blue Moon lander. In 2021, he made fun of Blue Origin's struggles to reach orbit.

"Bezos has voiced skepticism at Musk's vision of colonizing Mars, and once suggested his takeover of Twitter, now X, could make things complicated for Tesla in China," Business Insider reported.
