As part of the Jerusalem Municipality’s preparations for the US embassy relocation
on May 14, road signs in Hebrew, English and Arabic directing the public to the
new embassy location were installed today. Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat had the
honor of putting up the first sign.
“This is not a dream - it's reality! This morning, I am
proud and excited to install the first signs for the US embassy, which will
open next week in Jerusalem. I thank President Trump for making this historic
moment come to fruition,” Barkat said. “Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the
Jewish people - and the world is beginning to recognize this fact.”
The US consulate building in south Jerusalem will be used
as the temporary location for the embassy while the permanent embassy building
is under construction.
