https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_A._Baker_(government_attorney)#Private_sector
Private sector[edit]
Baker's
government service was interrupted twice by stints in the private sector. Baker
was assistant general counsel for national security at Verizon
Business from 2008 to 2009.[2] He
was associate general counsel with Bridgewater Associates from 2012 to
2014.[13] He
worked as director of National Security and Cybersecurity for the non-partisan,
right-center leaning think-tank R Street Institute between January of 2018
and June of 2020.[14][15]
Baker served as
deputy general counsel at Twitter, Inc. from
June 2020 to December 2022, until being fired publicly by CEO Elon Musk.[16][3] Following
the disclosure of internal Twitter communications ("Twitter Files") regarding limiting
the distribution of a news article concerning materials from Hunter Biden's laptop on
the platform in the leadup to the 2020 presidential election,
which Twitter at the time cited a potential violation of its rules regarding
hacked materials, Musk expressed concerns about Baker's possible role in its
suppression and his alleged interference in the publication of "Twitter
Files" as reasons for his termination.
James
Andrew Baker[1] is a former American government
official at the Department of Justice who
served as general counsel for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).[2] He
later served as deputy general counsel at Twitter, Inc. from June 2020 to
December 2022 before being fired by Elon Musk[3].
A graduate of the
University of Notre Dame and the University of Michigan Law School, he joined
the Department of Justice in 1990.
In December 2017,
he was replaced as general counsel and reassigned to a different position
within the FBI.[4] It
was revealed on April 19, 2018, that he was a recipient of at least one Comey memo.[5] On
May 4, 2018, Baker resigned from the FBI and joined the Brookings Institution as a fellow, writing for the
justice-focused blog, Lawfare.[6] In
January 2019, Baker left Brookings to become the director of national security
and cybersecurity at the R Street Institute, a conservative think-tank
in Washington, D.C.[7] He
also teaches at Harvard Law School.

If you ever get
the feeling that when it comes to politics in America that it’s all a big grift
that you are not in on — something the late comedian George Carlin tried to
tell us — you’re not alone.
Amid all the
controversy surrounding Dr. Anthony Fauci, who for a short period of time
acquired God-like powers over our lives, it cannot be forgotten that he was
entrenched in the bureaucracy of government having spent nearly 40 years as
director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Fauci sat for a
seven-hour deposition by two Republican attorneys general last month and
Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, who was just elected to the U.S.
Senate, shared some “tidbits” of that deposition online, noting that
President Biden’s chief medical advisor replied “I don’t recall” to questions
174 times. But Schmitt dropped another little nugget: Fauci’s daughter worked
for Twitter up until about a year ago.
