Leonardo DiCaprio Added to Global Citizen Festival Lineup

Leonardo DiCaprio has been added to the lineup of celebrity activists who will appear onstage at next week’s Global Citizen Festival at New York City’s Central Park.

The festival will be taking up the issues of global poverty and inequality, and climate change again this year, and will highlight the launch of a new set of global development goals, according to Page Six.

DiCaprio, a staunch environmentalist, and U2’s Bono will be joining celebs Stephen Colbert, Hugh Jackman, Kerry Washington, Salma Hayek, Olivia Wilde, and Deborra-Lee Funess as presenters of the show.

Beyoncé, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Pearl Jam will perform at the Sept 26 event, which will stream on MSNBC’s website and YouTube.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will be in attendance, as will a number of powerful CEOs and prime ministers.

2015 Global Citizen Festival partners include YouTube, Google, iHeartRadio, Clear Channel Outdoor, MSNBC, the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and T- Mobile.

Ban Ki-Moon is the secretary general for the United Nations, and an honorary chair at the International Peace Institute (think tank).

Foundation to Promote Open Society was a funder for the New America Foundation (think tank), the Natural Resources Defense Council, and the Roosevelt Institute.  

George Soros was the chairman for the Foundation to Promote Open Society, and is Jonathan Soros’s father.

Jonathan Soros is George Soros’s son, a director at the New America Foundation, and a senior fellow at the Roosevelt Institute.

Eric E. Schmidt was a funder for the New America Foundation, is the chairman of the New America Foundation, married to Wendy Schmidt, the chairman for Google Inc., and a 2008 Bilderberg conference participant (think tank).

Wendy Schmidt is married to Eric E. Schmidt, and a trustee at the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Leonardo DiCaprio is a trustee at the Natural Resources Defense Council, and was a board member at Global Green USA.

Global Green USA is a US affiliate of Green Cross International.

Mikhail Gorbachev is the founder of Green Cross International, an advisory board member for the Wheelchair Foundation, was the general secretary for the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, and the president of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR).

Anna Eleanor Roosevelt is an advisory board member for the Wheelchair Foundation, and the chair for the Roosevelt Institute.
