Planned Parenthood Privately Funded by Sex Toy Industry, Publicly Funded by Americans

Planned Parenthood Privately Funded by Sex Toy Industry, Publicly Funded by Americans
by Dr. Susan Berry 24 Aug 2017
Planned Parenthood is privately raising funds via the sale of X-rated adult sex paraphernalia while simultaneously demanding Americans fund it with their hard-earned money.

Polly Rodriguez, the founder of sex toy company Unbound, is a former staffer for Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO). She created the idea of “Vibes for Congress,” a campaign in which Planned Parenthood supporters could raise funds for their favorite abortion chain by purchasing vibrators for $15 and having them delivered to members of Congress who want to defund the organization.

“Until Trump got elected, we’d always thought, ‘It’s the crazies who attack Planned Parenthood,’” Rodriguez told Elle.com. “When we actually started to see them move to defund it, I remember feeling all of a sudden like we really need to raise awareness.”

Leftwing media Bustle reported that Vibrant, a Denver-based adult sex toy shop, touts an executive team composed entirely of former Planned Parenthood employees who wanted to raise money for the abortion business.

“It is incredibly important to us at Vibrant to have education around sexual health, sexuality, sex, and sex toys at the forefront of our brand and site,” said Vibrant founder Rebecca Engel. “We believe that the more information someone has about any and all of these topics, the healthier lives and relationships they are able to have.”

Engel continued:

Being able to talk about toys with a partner helps with general communication and can enhance a relationship, among other health benefits of masturbation and orgasms. Educating people about sexuality outside of gender and reproductive terms, since we know most people are actually having sex for pleasure, is also more inclusive as sex doesn’t have to be (and is often not) just penis and vagina. This can make people who may feel different feel that there is someone, if not lots of someones, out there speaking to them.

“Having a partner like Vibrant is critical to our future,” acknowledged Vicki Cowart, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, according to the Washington Times. All of the proceeds from the sales of sex toys, priced from $20 to $220, go to the Rocky Mountains affiliate.

The Times also reports that Craft Boner, a purveyor of sex-themed arts and crafts that offers holiday wrapping paper that says, “Santa doesn’t care if you’re a slut,” also sells a line of “Support Planned Parenthood” items. Purchase of a “sassy uterus” T-shirt or tote bag will send 30 percent of proceeds to Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains.

Similarly, a new cartoon uterus emoji named “Ooti” is also available for $1.99 to benefit Planned Parenthood.

“Ooti’s here so we can celebrate this amazing reproductive organ as well as support the fantastic health services Planned Parenthood provides,” says its creator. “All proceeds will be donated to Planned Parenthood so they can continue offering accessible care to those who need it.”

“The fact that there are these tongue-in-cheek sex organizations giving support to Planned Parenthood, frankly, in a weird way, is absolutely appropriate,” said Jay Richards, executive editor of conservative online media The Stream. “Planned Parenthood is both an instigator and a recipient of the sexual revolution — the separation of sex and procreation at all costs, even through the death of the unborn. It makes perfect sense that lascivious organizations would give support to them.”

In addition to the sexual pleasure industry, many celebrities, restaurants, fashion designers, and leftwing activists have raised millions of dollars for America’s largest provider of abortions.

Full Frontal host Samantha Bee raised $1 million for Planned Parenthood selling “Nasty Woman” T-shirts, while limited edition prints of a photo of Miley Cyrus by Marilyn Minter were sold for $5,500 each – all the proceeds of which went to taxpayer-funded Planned Parenthood.

Not to be outdone, Lena Dunham sold 169 items from her wardrobe – including the dress she wore on the night of Hillary Clinton’s defeat by Donald Trump – to benefit the abortion vendor. Two years ago, Dunham also “stripped down” and then auctioned off a sweater with a pink uterus for Planned Parenthood, providing the group another four thousand dollars.

“I think it shows that Planned Parenthood is a very high-profile organization that’s perfectly capable of being funded by voluntary, private donations,” Richards said. “The fact that we know the name of Planned Parenthood — everyone in the United States knows about the organization — this is one of the most high-profile 501(c)(3) charities in the United States.”

The majority of Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funds is received through Medicaid reimbursements and allows the group to be viewed as a provider of healthcare services. The organization’s own recently released annual report, however, shows its profits, taxpayer funding, and number of abortions performed have all increased over the past year, while many of its non-abortion services–such as contraception, cancer screenings, and prenatal services–have decreased over the same period.

Nevertheless, Planned Parenthood is advertising itself as a “healthcare provider,” and its president, Cecile Richards, has testified before Congress that, “abortion is healthcare.”
