CBS seized the confidential files, personal items, and laptop of investigative reporter Catherine Herridge, who was investigating the Hunter Biden laptop scandal when she became one of hundreds laid off last week, the New York Post reported Thursday.

The Post was told by a source within CBS that the move was "unprecedented," adding that CBS informed Herridge what, if anything, would be returned to her.

Further, the documents seized might contain privileged conversations Herridge had with her lawyer and identities of confidential sources, according to the report. Herridge was in the middle of a First Amendment case, in which she refused to identify a source to a court.

"The timing of Herridge's termination immediately raised suspicions in Washington," legal scholar and professor Jonathan Turley wrote in an opinion piece for The Hill.

"She was pursuing stories that were unwelcomed by the Biden White House and many Democratic powerhouses, including the Hur report on Joe Biden's diminished mental capacity, the Biden corruption scandal, and the Hunter Biden laptop," Turley wrote. "She continued to pursue these stories despite reports of pushback from CBS executives, including CBS News President Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews."

A CBS spokesperson told the Post that Herridges belongings will be returned to her soon.

"We have respected her request to not go through the files. And out of our concern for confidential sources, the office she occupied has remained secure since her departure," the spokesperson told the Post. "We are prepared to pack up the rest of her files immediately on her behalf — with her representative present as she requested."

Turley called the approach to her files "heavy-handed," adding it "left many wondering if it was the result of the past reported tension over stories."

"Regardless of motive, the company is dead wrong," he wrote.

SAG-AFTRA, the union that represents CBS staffers, also responded.

"This action is deeply concerning to the union because it sets a dangerous precedent for all media professionals and threatens the very foundation of the First Amendment," the union said in a statement to the Post.

Herridge previously worked for Fox News. And Fox, according to the Post, is paying for her legal counsel. It was at Fox News where she landed on a story in 2017, the saga of which continues.

Herridge's First Amendment fight involved defying "U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper's order to reveal how she learned about a federal probe into a Chinese American scientist who operated a graduate program in Virginia," according to the Post.

She could be fined up to $5,000 a day.

And, according to the Post's sources, CBS could be subpoenaed to reveal the identity of Herridge's source, which CBS could possibly have under guard in her old office.

S&P Global Ratings (previously Standard & Poor's and informally known as S&P) is an American credit rating agency (CRA) and a division of S&P Global that publishes financial research and analysis on stocksbonds, and commodities. S&P is considered the largest of the Big Three credit-rating agencies, which also include Moody's Investors Service and Fitch Ratings.[2] Its head office is located on 55 Water Street in Lower ManhattanNew York City.[3]

Corporate History

The company traces its history back to 1860, with the publication by Henry Varnum Poor of History of Railroads and Canals in the United States. This book compiled comprehensive information about the financial and operational state of U.S. railroad companies. In 1868, Henry Varnum Poor established H.V. and H.W. Poor Co. with his son, Henry William Poor, and published two annually updated hardback guidebooks, Poor's Manual of the Railroads of the United States and Poor's Directory of Railway Officials.[4][5]

In 1906, Luther Lee Blake founded the Standard Statistics Bureau, with the view to providing financial information on non-railroad companies. Instead of an annually published book, Standard Statistics would use 5-by-7-inch cards, allowing for more frequent updates.[4]

In 1941, Paul Talbot Babson purchased Poor's Publishing and merged it with Standard Statistics to become Standard & Poor's Corp. In 1966, the company was acquired by The McGraw-Hill Companies, extending McGraw-Hill into the field of financial information services.

Teacher formerly known as Rachel Dolezal loses job over OnlyFans account

The Arizona-based educator formerly known as Rachel Dolezal has been ousted from her position in a local school district due to content posted on her OnlyFans account.

Dolezal, who legally changed her name to Nkechi Diallo in 2016, had been teaching at an elementary school in Arizona since August 2023, according to a report from News4 Tucson.

She was fired this week after her OnlyFans account was brought to the district’s attention, as its posts are “contrary to our district’s Use of Social Media by District Employees policy and our staff ethics policy”, said Julie Farbarik, the district’s director of alumni and community relations. The account was linked in Diallo’s public Instagram profile.

“We only learned of Ms Nkechi Diallo’s OnlyFans social media posts yesterday afternoon,” she said, according to News4. “She is no longer employed by the Catalina Foothills school district.” The district did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Diallo is best known for controversy surrounding her racial identity, identifying as a Black woman for years and even heading the local chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) before her parents publicly revealed she is white in 2015.

After the controversy, Diallo lost her role teaching African studies at Eastern Washington University and launched an account on OnlyFans in 2021 after struggling to find work. She has made 600 posts in the years since and shared hundreds of paywalled adult videos and photos. Diallo could not be immediately reached for comment.

Diallo’s is not the first example of an educator being terminated or resigning due to OnlyFans content. In 2023, a Missouri teacher was suspended and later resigned after her account was discovered and shared on Facebook. Some have argued the presence of teachers on OnlyFans underscores the financial pressures those in education face, with the average school teacher making $66,745 per year and 40% of all education professionals earning less than $25,000 per year.

OnlyFans, a subscription-based adult content site, exploded in popularity during the pandemic, going from 1 million global creators in 2020 to 3 million in 2023. The average OnlyFans creator makes only $151 monthly, but some of the top accounts bring in as much as $5.4m per year.

GOP: Soros Funds Prof Spreading 'Vile Antisemitic Propaganda'

By Solange Reyner    |   Wednesday, 14 February 2024 12:47 PM EST

https://www.newsmax.com/us/george-soros-antisemitism-rutgers/2024/02/14/id/1153577/

Senate Republicans are probing a $143,000 fellowship awarded by George Soros-backed Open Society Foundation to professor Sahar Aziz, the director of Rutgers University's Center for Security, Race and Rights who they say has spread "vile antisemitic propaganda."

"The work of the center, its promotion of terrorist sympathizers, and its platforming of radical ideologues is troubling to us as members of the Senate Judiciary Committee," the Senate Judiciary Committee wrote last week.

"The committee has a long history of working on legislation meant to root out support for terrorism, and to compensate its victims. For example, in 2016 Congress passed the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act.

"As the committee explores the efficacy of this legislation, particularly in the context of recent world events, it is appropriate to evaluate the financial backing of groups that seek to legitimize violence and provide platforms for terrorist sympathizers," they concluded.

They said they were looking into whether U.S. taxpayer dollars fund the center.

Rutgers last year equated the condemnation of Hamas last year to attempts to "ignore over 75 years of colonial violence and the horrific consequences born out of these decades of oppression and attempted erasure."

"I am not at all surprised that the center's director received funding from George Soros's web of dark money," Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, told the Washington Examiner.

He said he and his colleagues aim to vet the center's funding sources and "promotion of antisemitic propaganda."

OSF told the Examiner its foundation "is a leader in the effort to advance racial justice in the United States, and in the fight against antisemitism and anti-Muslim hate.

"We are proud to support individuals working to expand justice and opportunity for historically marginalized communities through innovative projects and research."
