Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., is working from home after he sprained his wrist and cut his face in a fall on Capitol Hill, reported The Hill.

“After tripping on Tuesday, Leader McConnell is experiencing leg stiffness and will work from home today,” a McConnell spokesperson said in a Thursday morning statement.

McConnell, 82, fell during the Senate Republican lunch.

"Leader McConnell tripped following lunch. He sustained a minor cut to the face and sprained his wrist. He has been cleared to resume his schedule," his spokesperson said.

McConnell, who walks with a limp after overcoming polio as a child, has fallen previously.

He announced in February that he was stepping down from the leadership role he’s held for two decades. Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., was elected by the conference to replace McConnell as Republican leader in the 119th Congress.
