Sarah Palin: Liberals Gearing Up to Push for Single-Payer
Health Care

On Friday, former Alaska Gov.
Sarah Palin suggested that recent revelations that 40 U.S. veterans died while
they were placed on secret waiting lists at a VA hospital in Arizona is a
preview of what will occur Obamacare.
Palin reminded Americans that she
predicted Obamacare's "death panels" before the law was passed and
said liberals will start pushing for a single-payer system as Obamacare, which
has been changed, at whim, numerous times with executive actions, runs into
even more problems.
"What happens next is the
Left will subtly suggest moving America
toward a single-payer system, which was their intention all along. Watch for
this gradual, but driving, descent into statism," Palin warned. "So, are you still relying on Obamacare to help and
not hurt you? On the Democrats' watch, health care in the hands of
unaccountable bureaucrats proves Reagan’s adage that government is not the
solution; government is the problem."
Palin was right then on "death panels"
and stood her ground even as she was relentlessly
mocked. Later, liberals such as Paul
Krugman, Howard Dean, and former
Obama adviser Steve Rattner conceded
that "death panels" were a necessary component of Obamacare.
Palin cited her "death
panels" post on August 7, 2009:
“And who will suffer the most when
they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The
America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down
Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s ‘death panel’ so his
bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of
productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system
is downright evil.”
Politifact declared her statement
the “Lie of the Year" in 2009, as Palin noted:
“We agree with Palin that such a
system would be evil. But it's definitely not what President Barack Obama or
any other Democrat has proposed.”
Palin pointed out, though, that
when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) was asked whether the ultimate
goal was to get the country on single-payer healthcare, he replied, "Yes,
yes. Absolutely, yes.’”
She also noted that on June 30,
2013, President Barack Obama also
declared that he wanted a single-payer system, saying, "I happen to be a
proponent of a single-payer health care plan.”
Palin said she had the media's
sticky "Lie of the Year" label on her back that the Orwellian Left
and the "squishy" right used to denounce her and "commonsense
conservatives" as those who "just don’t know what we’re talking
about." But now they are seeing the light.
"I love this American
Awakening when finally more voters can’t say they weren’t warned," Palin
wrote. "But the truth stares us in the face and pocketbook, especially as
we see the unworkable Obamacare."
Palin mentioned that Eric Shinseki, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, said he was "mad
as hell" at the secret waiting lists but has refused to resign. She
indicated that this was par for the course in Obama's administration. Referring
the IRS's targeting of conservatives, Palin mentioned that "we’ve seen how
Obama merely gives lip service to his bureaucrats 'investigating' his
bureaucracy" and told Americans to not be "surprised if he finds
nothing wrong in the government’s VA health system – 'NOT EVEN A SMIDGEN'"
