The United States labor force
participation rate rose by 58,000 in August, according to statistics released by the Labor Department on
Friday.
That leaves a total of 94,391,000 Americans not in the
work force, unchanged from July’s 62.8 percent.
The national unemployment rate also remained unchanged at
4.9 percent, as the United States economy added only 151,000 jobs.
The number is down slightly from what economic
analysts estimated would be 175,000 new jobs with an unemployment rate of 4.8
