Brady Campaign Honors Hillary Clinton’s ‘Leadership’ on Gun Control

Brady Campaign Honors Hillary Clinton’s ‘Leadership’ on Gun Control

On October 16, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence announced they will be awarding Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton with the “Mario M. Cuomo Visionary Award” for her “leadership” on gun control.

The award will be presented to Clinton at the annual Brady Bear Awards Gala in New York on November 19.

Part of the reason for the award is Clinton’s ongoing support of forcing would-be gun buyers to pass the same Brady background check that the Umpqua Community College gunman, the DC Navy Yard gunman, and the Aurora movie theater gunman passed to acquire their firearms. Clinton not only supports such checks, but also wants to expand them so that more would-be gun purchasers have to pass them to get a gun.

The Brady Campaign released the following statement explaining their reasons for choosing Clinton:

We’re honored to recognize Mrs. Clinton for her leadership on this issue. Throughout her career as a public servant, Hillary Clinton has repeatedly put the safety of the American people above the influence and interests of the corporate gun lobby. She serves as an example for all policymakers who truly want to serve the constituencies they are elected to represent. Mrs. Clinton was there when the historic Brady Law was signed by President Bill Clinton and she has demonstrated a clear commitment in support of our efforts to ‘finish the job’ and expand those lifesaving Brady background checks to all gun sales.

Breitbart News previously reported that Clinton believes an Australian-style gun ban is “worth looking at” in deciding gun policy in the United States. She has expressed a determination to go after gun stores if elected and to seek a change in U.S. law to allow shooting victims to sue gun manufacturers for gun crime.
