CAUTION: This story is being questioned. I have not researched it enough to have a definitive answer for myself but I am suspicious enough to post this caution.
Ok, I'll call the shot. The evidence now exists to say that these stories from Africa are not to be trusted. I now need evidence that they are true rather my former position that I needed evidence that they were false.

More on Obama’s Kenyan birth

Last week, API advised that certain tapes were to be aired on FOX NEWS and then something went wrong. But its not over yet. Yesterday they posted this.
Mombasa Imam who confirmed Obama ’s birth place arrives in the UK
The Imam who came forward to assist in the search of Barack Obama’s identity left Kenya secretly last night, and will arrive in the UK this morning. He will meet with a US contact person who will assist him in recording an asylum statement in the UK after handing over the documents that caused the blessing of Obama when he was born and to confirm the origin of the name Hussein.
The man will join relatives in the UK because his life will be in danger if he were to return to Kenya after removing the documents from the Mosque’s archives and taking them out of the country. The man has been informed about the on-going case filed in the US Supreme Court by attorney Philip Berg challenging Barack Obama’s citizenship.
When the man heard that Jerome Corsi was in Kenya a few months ago, he took a decision to try and meet him, but had to travel back to Mombasa from Nairobi on hearing that Corsi had been bundled and taken to the airport on deportation orders.
The Imam is the grandson of the late Imam who blessed Barack Obama when he was born in Mombasa on the 4th of august 1961.
While in the UK, the Imam and the American contact person will visit Amnesty International before handing himself over to the authorities where he will formally deliver his application for asylum. The contact man has arranged so that they get an official from Amnesty international to accompany them to the home office desk where he will inform them on he dangers that will face him if he were to return to Kenya after delivering the documents on Obama.
This may now bring to close the speculations on Obama’s citizenship and the secrecy on where he was born.
API will dispatch a detailed letter in support of the Imam’s - application for asylum and protection - to the UK Home Office Secretary later today. The letter will be made available on the site here, but minus the names of the Imam.
Is this a sham or what? Time will tell. Also I hear that there is a copy of a birth certificate to confirm.
Finally from another blog
berg obtained Stanley Ann Dunham’s (Barrack’s mother’s) medical records because he couldn’t get Barrack’s. She has no record of giving birth in the USA in 1961. But she did however give birth to a bouncing baby Barrack Obama Jr. in Mombasa Kenya, August 4, 1961. She Then registered the birth in Hawaii August 8, 1961. If he had been born in America they would have done it in the hospital on the day of his birth.
Obama’s paternal grandmother said she was present in Mombasa in the delivery room when he was born. Berg has an affidavit from her to this effect.

and then you go and a post an article that credits API. The Michelle Tapes people who strung everyone along for days until they finally released a premium rate telephone number with nothing of use on it. A scam in the best traditions of Nigeria.

Moreover, look at this news. Does it say that there is a document and that the news service has seen it? No.
It says that there might be a document if the Imama is granted asylum. Well, let's all hold our breath until then.
If Obama had been born in Kenya, there would be a record of his mother arriving in Kenya in the archives of the Kenya government.
The critics of Obama, who allege that he was born in Kenya, have not shown anything like this. All they would have to do is to go to those files in Kenya and show that Obama’s mother had been in Kenya in 1961. But they have nothing.
I listened to the tape, and it is not clear that Obama's grandmother understood the question. The translator (who is also apparently a relative) says repeatedly that Obama was born in Hawaii. In any case, it is not evidence. She could be referring to Barak Obama senior, Obama’s father, who certainly was born in Kenya.
The officials in Hawaii say he was born in Hawaii. They have seen his birth certificate in his file.
It was expensive to travel from Hawaii to Kenya in those days, so it is unlikely that the Obama family did it. It is particularly unlikely that they did it before the birth, when Obama’s mother was pregnant. Well, what is the evidence?
Don’t say the statement of the Obama’s Kenyan grandmother. I listened to that tape and it is not clear that she understood the question. It is not documentary evidence in any case.
API is a FRAUD.
