Sheriff Joe won't abandon Obama probe

The Obama administration may have dropped a legal case against Arizona’s Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, but that doesn’t mean “America’s toughest sheriff” has any intention of dropping his pursuit of the truth about the sitting president.
“We’re continuing it,” Arpaio told WND senior staff reporter and radio host Aaron Klein, of his office’s investigation into the document the White House released as Obama’s purported birth certificate. “We haven’t given up on it.”

Arpaio appeared on “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio” on New York’s WABC Radio to talk about the Department of Justice’s recent decision to close a criminal probe against the sheriff, when the host asked about Arpaio’s Cold Case Posse investigation.
“We’re continuing it,” Arpaio told Klein. “It’s not whether [Obama] was born here; we’re looking at fraudulent government documents. That’s been my mission from Day 1, to see if those birth certificates are false.
“We haven’t given up on it,” he continued. “We’ll see what happens.”
When Klein asked the sheriff if he thought the birth certificate would be a significant issue in the election, however, Arpaio speculated it would continue to be swept under the rug.
“I don’t think so,” Arpaio answered, “because everybody’s ignoring it on both sides of the fence. … Even the media ignores the evidence we have. But we did our job, I was asked to do it, we used our volunteer posse at no cost to the government. We did a great investigation; we’re still coming up with information, so we’ll see what happens.”
The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced last week that it has closed a criminal probe, without filing charges, of Arpaio’s office after an investigation began in 2010 of alleged financial improprieties by the sheriff and his deputies.
A separate federal investigation into Arpaio’s office regarding alleged civil rights abuses is still ongoing.
Nonetheless, Arpaio told Klein he was relieved to hear the U.S. Attorney’s news: “My office has been vindicated.”

In a separate interview with Arpaio, conducted at the recent Republican National Convention, Arpaio similarly told AM TV he was continuing the investigation into Obama’s documents.“I’m still working on it,” he told the interviewer. “You think I’m giving up?”Video of the interview can be seen below:
