A former Planned Parenthood abortion clinic director in Texas Planned Parenthood says her clinic projected a $313.29 profit per abortion and that she was told her office needed to perform 1,135 procedures per year to reach its budget goals.

In a new video posted courtesy of the pro-life website abortionworker.com, Abby Johnson, who ran a Planned Parenthood clinic in Bryan, Texas, before leaving in 2009, provided a copy of the Facility Budget for the clinic for fiscal year 2010. The video circles the projected figure 1,135, which is listed alongside the item "Income — Self-Pay (Surgical)."

The narrator then declares, "You know what that is? It's their abortion quota. The amount of abortions Abby's former clinic had to sell in order to meet their budget.

"The number next to it? $313.29 is the net amount of money the clinic needed to make off of each abortion performed."

LifeNews.com quotes Johnson as saying, "This was bothersome to me as I truly believed that our goal was to reduce the number of abortions … after all, that's what we always said to the media.

"When I voiced my concerns to my supervisor, she laughed and said, 'But Abby, abortion is how we make our money.'"

The revelations from the Texas clinic's budget plan come in the wake of Planned Parenthood's acknowledgment earlier this month that it gave an award to a Colorado clinic "for exceeding abortion visits" in the first half of its 2013 fiscal year compared to the first half of the preceding year.

"We recently had a clinic worker leave the affiliate, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains," Johnson wrote on the abortionworker.com website on July 2.

"This affiliate runs the 2nd largest Planned Parenthood facility in the U.S. At this clinic in Denver, they give out various awards to their satellite clinics and post these awards on a bulletin board for everyone to see."

She then described the Certificate for Exceeding Abortion Visits award presented to the clinic by Planned Parenthood.

LifeNews.com posted a photo of the award as well.

In a post on the Planned Parenthood Action website, Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains President and CEO Vicki Cowart responded to the controversy surrounding the award, declaring, "[f]irst, and plainly, Planned Parenthood does not have 'quotas' for any of our services."

She then proudly admits that the award was issued.

"As a nonprofit healthcare provider, our mission is to provide high-quality, affordable healthcare and education to as many people as possible," she writes.

"We aim to expand access to all of our services, and we commend our dedicated, passionate staff when they succeed in reaching more people who need care."

She closed her statement by saying, "yes, we absolutely do celebrate our progress in ensuring that more people have access to the full range of reproductive healthcare, including abortion. And we always will."

"When our former worker saw this award on public display, it really started to change her thinking about Planned Parenthood's motivation," Johnson wrote on the abortionworker.com website.
