About the Council
The President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness (Jobs Council) was created to provide non-partisan advice to the President on continuing to strengthen the Nation's economy and ensure the competitiveness of the United States and on ways to create jobs, opportunity, and prosperity for the American people.

Laura D'Andrea Tyson was a member of the President's Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, a director at the New America Foundation, a trustee at the Brookings Institution (think tank), and is a fellow at the Center for American Progress.

Note: Foundation to Promote Open Society was a funder for the New America Foundation, the Brookings Institution (think tank), the Center for American Progress, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (think tank), the Sundance Institute, the Aspen Institute (think tank), the Economic Policy Institute, and the Robin Hood Foundation.
