Stephen Colbert, part
of Comedy Central's one-two liberal
punch each weeknight, rubbed elbows with D.C. elite today as an honored guest
at President Barack Obama's latest State Department dinner.
Colbert and his wife sat at the
event's head table; First Lady Michelle
Obama sat next to the late-night host.
Reporters for both The Hill and
The New York Times tweeted out a partial list of guests in attendance, an event
with French President Francois Hollande.
Joining Colbert were director J.J. Abrams,
a prominent Obama supporter, Cicely Tyson and Oscar-nominated actor Bradley
Cooper.
Colbert's signature show The Colbert Report finds the comedian
posing as a right-wing pundit, but the program's aim is to promote liberal
talking points and mock GOP-friendly targets.
