Chris Christie 'More Than Happy' to Send Nurse to Maine
After Ebola Scare

Governor Chris Christie appeared
more than willing to export a quarantined nurse from New
Jersey to her home in Maine,
following a storm of controversy this weekend over how health officials treated
her.
"The plan from my perspective is if the medical folks
there want to let her go, and we have a safe way to transport her from New
Jersey to Maine, then I’d be more than happy to have her go home because that's
where she'll be most comfortable," Christie told reporters Monday in Florida.
The nurse, Kaci Hickox, will be transferred to her home
via private transportation, where Maine officials will have to determine how to
handle her quarantine.
Christie pushed back against the idea that he was backing
down from his instated 21-day quarantine policy.
"I was not going to back off for a moment, until we had
confirmation on all that, just because she didn’t want to be there," he
said. "I know she didn’t want to be there. No one ever wants to be in the
hospital, I suspect."
Christie appeared comfortable erring on the side of caution
in the weekend fiasco, after the nurse publicly complained about her treatment.
"The fact is I’m not going to step away for a minute
from protecting the people of my state and our region. ... My obligation is to
all the people of New Jersey, and we’re just going to continue to do
that," he said. "The critics are the critics. No matter what you do,
there will be critics, and you don’t worry about that. You worry about doing
what’s right for the people you represent, and that’s what we’ve done."
