Under the Hammer

When I played midget football I had to provide a copy of my birth certificate to prove that I met the age requirements. President-elect Barack Hussein Obama is being asked to do the same, not to prove his age but to prove that he meets the "natural born citizen" requirement of the United States Constitution. Obama says he was born in Hawaii. The only reason to doubt that it is true is that he, so far, has refused to produce a valid birth certificate for the press, public or Supreme Court.
The stuff that the Obama campaign has put up on the internet is either some inside campaign joke or proof that Obama believes the American people are stupid. If he has a birth certificate, what possible reason does he have for not providing it?
Obama's legal team did not respond to a request from the Supreme Court for documentation of some kind in the lawsuit filed by Philip Berg of Pennsylvania. It seems like, as a courtesy to the highest court in the nation, some response would have been deemed appropriate, but Obama did not respond.
Maybe I'm missing something, but in a little over a month Obama will be president of the United States and will have the right and duty to order men and women to fight and die for this country. We are currently at war in two countries and those wars are not going to end before Jan. 20, 2009, so Obama is going to immediately be commander in chief of the armed forces and is going to have casualties.
The people of this country have a right to know where Obama was born. He says he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. But we know he doesn't remember where he was born, so he is basing that fact on what he was told or on documentation he has seen.
It seems perfectly reasonable to me for Obama to be required to produce a birth certificate before he is allowed to move into the White House. Kids who play little league and midget football are not allowed to play based on how old they say they are; they are required to prove it with a birth certificate. Is it really asking too much of our newly elected president to request that he provide the same documentation?
