Video: Senator Mark Pryor Doubles Down on ObamaCare - Says
He'd Vote For It Again
by Debra Heine 4 Apr 2014
Democrats are facing massive
headwinds this election year due to the unpopularity of ObamaCare, but that hasn't stopped one vulnerable Democrat Senator
from embracing the law.
Today Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR) reaffirmed his support for the healthcare law by
saying that if he knew back in 2009, what we now know about Obama's signature
disaster, he’d still vote for it.
He was asked the question during
an appearance on Little Rock's
KARK-TV, Friday morning. After making note of the rising premiums, and the six
million canceled plans, the host asked the Arkansas senator if he still would have
voted for the bill in 2009.
“I would have,” he answered. “Of
course, I would want to see some changes back then,” he made sure to add.
He went on to say that ”we
probably did get 80 percent of it right.”
This despite a National Public
Radio poll released Thursday indicating that another “Republican midterm wave”
is in the forecast for 2014 -- precisely because of the unpopularity of
ObamaCare.
Via Noah Rothman, Mediaite:
“The overall political environment
in 2014 resembles 2010 far more closely than 2012,” the survey’s release reads.
“[A]s of today the chances are better than even that they will take control of
the Senate and add to their majority in the House in 2014.”
They cited a number of factors
which are creating major headwinds for Democrats, including the president’s
ailing approval rating, the sluggish economic recovery, and pessimism about the
future of the country. And, as always, a wave election is made up of a
combination of factors. However, there most certainly is one key factor motivating
Republicans to vote in disproportionate numbers compared to their Democratic
counterparts. What could that be?
“For the first time in NPR
polling, a majority of voters disapproves of the health care law,” the Resurgent Republic’s release continued.
6 out of 10 Arkansans have an
unfavorable view of "the huge historic mess".
